Truly a small wonder, the eTrex takes the best features of a 12 parallel channel GPS receiver and put them into a six ounce package that is only four inches high and two inches wide. The result is a unit that will literally fit in the palm of your hand.
Besides its small size, mariners and outdoorsmen will likely notice the sleek design of the eTrex. All buttons are located on either side of the unit, allowing for simple, one-handed operation that won't obstruct your view of the display. In fact, the eTrex features only five operator buttons for the ultimate in user-friendly design. Thanks to its bright yellow case, the eTrex will be hard to misplace and easy to find in any boat or backpack. The eTrex is completely waterproof so it can take an accidental splash or dunk in the water and still continue to perform.
Inside the eTrex, you will find the proven performance of a 12 parallel channel GPS receiver that will run for 22 hours on just two AA batteries. The eTrex will store up to 500 user waypoints with graphic icons and boasts Garmin's exclusive TracBack® feature that will reverse your track log and help you navigate your way back home. In addition, the eTrex uses animated graphics that will help you identify your marked waypoints quickly and easily.

Garmin GPS eTrex Vista

The Garmin eTrex Vista contains 24 megabytes of internal memory, an electronic compass which provides bearing information while you are standing still and a barometric altimeter to determine your precise altitude and provide a graphic profile of your trip.

The Vista has a rocker switch on the front which allows for quick and accurate map panning, as well as selection and enter functions. As a result of new processing speed, built-in memory and the crisp, high resolution display, eTrex Vista offers full-feature navigation capabilities. Satellite status, navigation displays and mapping provide details for both the basic and advanced user. Position format may be selected including Latitude/Longitude, MGRS and Loran TDs.
A PC Interface Cable is included with the eTrex Vista, and the 24 MB of internal (non-expandable) memory allows eTrex Vista to accept downloaded map data from Garmin's entire line of MapSource CDROMs including MapSource MetroGuide which offers residential street-level detail, addresses and points of interest. is displayed on the track detail page.
MARINE POINTS OF INTEREST
• Marine navigational are pre-loaded into the built-in user memory each unit from the factory (not part of the basemap).
• If MapSource data is loaded to the Vista, the preloaded Marine POI database will be erased. To recover this data the Preloaded Map Database file can be downloaded from GARMIN's web site.
• MapSource data and POI data from the GARMIN web site cannot be loaded at the same time. Points of Interest data from the MapSource Points of Interest CDROM CAN be used in combination with maps from other MapSource products.

The Legend includes a built-in Americas Highway basemap for North, South and Central America, containing lakes, rivers, cities, interstates, highways, coastlines and interstate exit information (exit information for USA only). [NOTE: Legend models available outside North America may contain the Atlantic or Pacific basemap instead] The 8 megabytes of built-in (non-expandable) memory allows the Legend to accept downloaded map data from Garmin's entire line of MapSource CDROMs including MapSource MetroGuide which offers residential street-level detail, addresses and points of interest.

Mapping detail is presented on a high resolution liquid crystal display (268 x 160 pixel, FSTN).
The waterproof Legend has a rocker switch on the front which allows for quick and accurate map panning, as well as selection and enter functions. As a result of new processing speed, built-in memory and the high resolution display, eTrex Legend offers full-feature navigation capabilities.
